    Fake Alligator’s 2018 Shopping Guide

The holiday season is upon us.  Time to buy a whole bunch of stuff for your friends and family without any clue if they’ll like it or not.  If thay already have it or not.  Or buy stuff for people you, frankly, don’t really like.  (Anything made by David Wellington, Tiffany, or  Hermes (ties excluded).)  I know what you’re thinking… Who the hell are you to write a guide on what to buy people, you’re such a curmudgeon, you only like 3 watch brands, 2 car manufacturers and 2 clothing brands.  I say you’re right so let’s just say I’m doing this out of social obligation for those who really…

We here at Fake Alligator put together a list of the top 10 things in 2017.  Trying to steer clear of watches and cars (for the most part) we wanted to showcase the biggest and most exciting things of the year.  So without further ado: 10: Damien Hirst’s Venice show: Treasures From the Wreck of the Unbelievable 189 pieces in bronze, marble, malachite, rock crystal, silver and gold.   The work took 10 years to produce at a cost of over $65million USD, that’s a few Paul Newman Daytonas.  Love him or hate him, this show was the only thing I remember from Venice this year. 9: That fight scene in…

Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary Party in New York City

This past weekend Ferrari drove their 70 Anniversary party into New York City.  They put up a few displays around the city for a handful of cars each.  One included cars going up for auction at Sotheby’s on York ave and anther smack -dab in the middle of Rockefeller Center, where the Christmas tree stand every year. This specific display included cars from each decade.  I was really hoping to see the fabled and much lauded F40.  I’ve never seen one in person.  I later found out there was one at the Sotheby’s location.  I’ve not seen a Testarossa in years.  I don’t think it’s aged well in the context…

Can we discuss Ferrari model names?

A car name can become an important part of the legacy for the model. Using letters and numbers instead of names has long been a pet peeve of mine. For some manufacturers I don’t see this as a problem. The more expensive the car, the more it needs a name. My parents had a 85′ Nissan 300ZX. Yawn. At the time I was aware of other more exciting car model names: Corvette, Mustang, Camero, Countach, etc. Ferrari used to be good with their car names: Testarossa, F40, Enzo!   Which leads us to Ferrari.  Today’s Ferraris: The 812 Superfast   Always discovering new driving emotions. #Ferrari #812Superfast A post shared…
